Weaning allows the cows to get a well-earned break heading into winter, and it helps the calves learn to eat, drink, and settle with their herd mates. It’s calf weaning day here on the farm! 🐮✨ Weaning is an important part of keeping both cows and calves healthy. Our cows are back in calf — with two of them expecting twins next year! 🧡🐮🐮🧡 Separating the calves now means the cows can put all their energy into growing their new babies, and the weaned calves don’t need to compete with their mums for the best haylage! Everyone is calm and settled, which makes the whole process much easier for them (and us!). 😊 #cows #backbritishfarming #farm
