East Cobb early voting guide for the 2024 general election
Oct 12, 2024 · From Oct. 15-Nov. 1, Georgia and Cobb voters can cast their ballots in person in advance of the Nov. 5 general election. The 2024 elections feature new some boundaries due to court-ordered redistricting, particularly in races for the Cobb Board of Education.
Dates set for special elections for Cobb commissioner seats
Nov 13, 2024 · The special elections were ordered by a Cobb judge in July after she struck down electoral maps that the commission’s Democratic majority approved in 2022, claiming home rule redistricting powers.. Those maps had part of East Cobb in District 2. But the ruling declared that only the Georgia legislature can conduct county reapportionment and that the “home rule” maps were unconstitutional.

Italian restaurant, patisserie coming to Avenue East Cobb
Oct 9, 2024 · Next summer, Tenku Sushi Elevation will be opening in one of the new “jewel box” buildings that’s part of Avenue East Cobb’s recent redevelopment. Tenku’s first restaurant, in Woodstock, offers a variety of Japanese dishes that include nigiri and sashimi, signature rolls, robata grills, omakase, and flame-seared marinated octopus.
East Cobb restaurant update: Guthrie’s Chicken opens Monday
Dec 12, 2024 · A year after its plans were approved by the county, a Guthrie’s Chicken location in East Cobb is set to open.. We went by the new building today (4774 Lower Roswell Road at Johnson Ferry Road) and the electronic sign said the opening is Monday, Dec. 16.
Cobb school board to hold 2025 organizational meeting

Newly elected Cobb District Attorney sworn into office
Dec 11, 2024 · Sonya Allen was sworn into office Wednesday as the new District Attorney in Cobb County, a little more than a month after her election. The Democrat and former assistant district attorney in Fulton County was accompanied by her parents and daughter as she took the oath of office from Georgia Supreme Court Justice Verda M. Colvin.
Cobb to increase water and sewer rates through 2029
Dec 10, 2024 · The Cobb Board of Commissioners voted 4-1 Tuesday to raise water and sewer rates for each of the next five years. Starting next year, residential and commercial customers will pay an additional 3.5 percent for water and sewer services each year through 2029, according to estimates presented by the Cobb County Water System at Tuesday’s meeting.
