A major change of fortunes has been revealed for the Pupil Referral Unit in Newtown, with a move to have two separate PRUs rather than one run from two sites. For most of the year, the prospect of closing one site, either in Newtown or Brecon, hung over the PRU.

Dolerw Bridge has been in need of some maintenance for some time, and Newtown's Mayor, Cllr Peter Lewington, who is also a local Powys county councillor, has been liaising with the county council to undertake repairs.
