High winds and dust struck Wichita Falls Friday morning. At 11 a.m. the National Weather Service reported westerly winds gusting to about 40 mph and blowing dust. Wichita Falls and much of the surrounding region was placed in a red flag warning for wildfires and placed in a high wind warning.

Flights to and from the Wichita Falls Regional Airport have been cancelled Friday, March 13. As a cloud of dust whipped through the area from strong winds, travellers’ plans were affected. American Eagle Flight 6284 from DFW to Wichita Falls and the returning flight to DFW have been canceled.

Wichita Falls and much of North Texas has been placed in a fire weather watch and a high wind watch for Friday. The National Weather Service warns of southwest winds 30-40 mph with gusts to 65 mph.
