A tornado briefly touched down in Hays County, Texas, early in the morning, knocking over large trees and causing minor damage to homes and personal property. The tornado threat has since expired, but flash flooding remains a threat for the area with a Flash Flood Watch in effect through 7 p.
Sunday night’s thunderstorms knocked out power to tens of thousands of people across North Texas, brought winds over 50 miles per hour and dropped 1-3 inches of rain. The storms, while strong, were not quite as intense as some forecasts originally suggested.
A Flood Watch remains in effect throughout the rest of Thursday as rain chances persist through the late morning and early afternoon, contributing even more to rain accumulation. As we get closer to lunchtime, rain potential will be harder to find, though an isolated storm or two are possible.
