The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory from 5 p.m. Thursday to 9 a.m. Friday for portions of east-central Kansas and central and west-central Missouri. Counties included in the advisory are Miami County,

The Kansas City metro is still digging itself out from a nearly-record 11 inches of snow that got dumped by a blizzard over the weekend. Roads remain icy and treacherous, however, and much of the city remains shut down.

Some schools will be closed or will shift to remote learning on Friday, Jan. 10, due to winter weather conditions affecting the roads and an approaching system that could bring 1–3 inches of snow.A full list of school closings,

The weather service says Kansas City has a low chance, less than 40%, of a dusting of snow and less than a 2% chance of seeing an inch of snow. Counties on the southern border of the Kansas City forecast area — Pettis, Henry, Bates and Linn counties — and surrounding areas are expected to see higher snowfall amounts.

Kansas City is gearing up for the possibility of more snow, while still clearing snow-packed streets from last weekend's blizzard.
