With the No. 1 pick in the 2025 draft, the Islanders selected Erie Otters (OHL) defenseman Matthew Schaefer to help stabilize their back end for years to come. Schaefer registered seven goals and 15 assists to go along with a +21 rating in just 17 games this past season after dealing with a collarbone injury.

The Detroit Red Wings have selected RW Michal Svrcek with the 119th pick in the 2025 NHL Draft. Svrcek was a productive junior player in Sweden and for Slovakia's national teams.

It was a relatively quiet NHL Draft for the Florida Panthers. The back-to-back Stanley Cup champions only made six picks in the seven-round draft and didn't select until the fourth round after previously trading away earlier picks to build their core.
