McDonald’s said Tuesday it is ending its partnership with Krispy Kreme on July 2, a little more than a year after it was announced

In a surprise turn of events for McDonald's and Krispy Kreme's iconic partnership, the two corporations have decided to end their collaboration.

The menu item was part of a new partnership set to rollout in nearly 14,000 McDonald's restaurants across the US -- but it barely made it into 2,500 store before the plug was pulled.
