The arrival of the 2025 free agency period in the NBA brought with it a flurry of new contracts, trades, and transactions as teams seek to add missing pieces in pursuit of a Larry O'Brien Trophy.

Technically, the NBA free agency period was scheduled to open at 6 p.m. Eastern time on Monday. In actuality, it has been rolling along. LeBron James has already opted in to a $52.6 million deal

NBA free agency is officially here. Players were legally allowed to begin negotiating with teams across the league as of Monday evening, which means there will be a flurry of activity this week. But many of the biggest names who could've been part of the free-agent pool stayed put without testing the waters.

With the NBA draft in the rearview mirror, the league's free agency period will officially begin Monday night. Teams and players are allowed to negotiate deals beginning on June 30, and those contracts can be officially signed on July 6.

The Houston Rockets continued their NBA offseason overhaul with the addition of Dorian Finney-Smith and Clint Capela. The Rockets added veteran forward Finney-Smith on a four-year, $53 million NBA deal shortly after free agency opened.
