The Brooklyn Nets retired Vince Carter's No. 15 jersey at the Barclays Center on Saturday, with the great Julius 'Dr. J' Erving - Carter's childhood hero - in attendance

Vince Carter reflected on his Nets career ahead of his No. 15 jersey retirement on Saturday at Barclays Center.

The Brooklyn Nets have had some great players come through the franchise since even before the team moved from New Jersey to Brooklyn. The organization was able to do something special for one of its former players by retiring Vince Carter's number during Saturday's game against the Miami Heat and he explained how his time with the team set him up to be a Hall-of-Famer.

Where Carter’s retired jersey hangs in Barclays Center is even more special. The Nets placed it next to Julius Erving’s, Carter’s idol, who stared for the Nets from 1973-76. He was the same man who introduced Carter into the Hall of Fame back in October.

There is so much love in this arena,” Ian Eagle said, kicking off his speech Saturday at Vince Carter’s jersey retirement. It was only right that it was Ian who flaunted VC’s accolades but also a lot more.
