A team of forest rangers in New York state have rescued a moose who became trapped in an icy lake. New York conservation officials say a passerby reported seeing the moose fall through into the lake in a forested area near the Vermont border,

"There’s no training manual on how to get a moose out of the ice," said one of the DEC officers involved in the rescue.

State Department of Environmental Conservation officials rescued a moose that had broken through the ice on Lake Abanakee in Hamilton County. Dressed in cold-water rescue gear, the officers ventured out onto the ice.
