More than 100 years after their service, a dozen Oklahomans who fought in WWI are eligible for the Valor Medals Review.

Native Americans discovered the Lost Escalante Gold Mine in the Santa Catalina Mountains in 1698. The mine, which was worked intermittently, became known as the Mine With the Iron Door.

6. St. Isaac Jogues, 1607–1646 A Jesuit priest from France, Jogues served as a missionary to the Native peoples in “New France” and became one of the North American martyrs.
