Houston remains much warmer than normal for early February, but a return to more typical late winter temperatures is in the forecast for next week.

Thursday morning we see dense fog, especially near the coast, then partly cloudy and unseasonably warm. Highs in the low to mid 80s.

February pattern has set up to kick off the month. We've seen record-setting heat for four straight days and the reason is due to a very amplified jet stream pushing Canadian air back up into Canada.

Look for partly sunny skies with areas of fog each morning. Fog will be thickest around the coast with patchy fog farther inland up to Houston. Temperatures the next few days will once again soar to the 80s during the afternoon which is about 15° above normal for this time of February.

Record highs for Wednesday are 83 in Houston, but look for a few light showers, slightly more wind and highs again in the low 80s. The cold front on Sunday will bring some scattered showers next week.

This week has been the warmest series of days in early February since 1957. Today's record for Houston is just 82 degrees, so will likely be broken by 2 to 3 p.m.
