The World Food Programme says it has just five days left of flour and two weeks left of other food supplies in Gaza.

GAZA CITY, Palestine (AA) – Israel released on Thursday five Palestinian workers, who had been arrested at the Kerem Shalom crossing in southern Gaza amid its ongoing assault on the enclave. The five workers were transported to the European Hospital in the southern city of Khan Younis for medical check-ups, witnesses said.

The Israel Defense Forces said it had "focused ground operations" in the Gaza Strip after a two-month pause in observance of a ceasefire -- which has since been broken.

Israel has reportedly killed 500 people with its renewed assault in Gaza, as its threats to Palestinian civilians take on an increasingly menacing tone.

Hamas is still holding 59 hostages, with 24 thought to be still alive, among the more than 250 it seized in its October 7, 2023 attack on Israel. Most of the rest have been freed, or their bodies handed over, in negotiated exchanges.
