A new study finds that rat infestation in many of the world’s cities appears to be soaring, especially in Washington.

As CBS News New York's Vanessa Murdock reports, the Big Apple isn't the only city struggling with this problem.

Using data from public rat sightings and inspections between 2007 and 2024, researchers examined 16 cities around the world and found two-thirds saw increases in rat populations. New York City saw the fourth-highest spike in rats.
