Back in the Manchester City line-up after five weeks out, Erling Haaland may as well have been watching from home against Southampton. Haaland had been an unused substitute last week on his return to the City squad before making his comeback against the joint-worst side in Premier League history.

Erling Haaland confirmed this week that he has made a significant step back towards his return from injury though boss Pep Guardiola struck a different tone about his star's fitness
