King County Metro has said to expect bus cancellations on Friday, January 10, as the community gathers to honor driver Shawn Yim.

Hundreds gathered Friday at a memorial service in Seattle to mourn Yim and call for better protections for bus drivers.

Transit workers held a memorial in downtown Seattle Friday morning for Shawn Yim — the Metro bus driver killed last month in a confrontation with a passenger.

King County Metro, community members and transit agencies will gather Jan. 10 to remember Shawn Yim, a bus driver tragically killed in December while on duty.

King County Metro driver Shawn Yim was remembered as a beloved husband, uncle, and servant to the city. Yim was known by his fellow bus drivers for going above and beyond for his passengers, especially children and the elderly.
