King cake lovers darted through a chilly rain Friday morning into Lee’s International Market in Biloxi, where they joined a line of customers anxious to get their hands on the coveted Mardi Gras treat from Dong Phuong Bakery in New Orleans.

King cake season has finally arrived and it's a long one this year. Why it matters: The seasonal pastry is only available between Jan. 6 and Mardi Gras day, which is March 4 this year. Get it while you can.

Carnival season is back in Louisiana, and for some, that means it’s time to grab a Dong Phuong king cake. In a post to social media on King’s Day, the bakery listed its official resellers with 29 locations.

Waveland Pharmacy, at 112 Auderer Blvd., is one of only two authorized resellers of Dong Phuong’s king cakes this year on the Mississippi Coast, the bakery’s website shows. The other is Lee’s International Grocery at 917 Division St. in Biloxi.
