Police in Denver responded in full force to marches downtown after an earlier peaceful protest at the Colorado State Capitol.

Denver was once again in President Donald Trump's sights as he directed federal immigration officers to prioritize deportations from Democratic-run cities following large-scale protests across the U.S.

More than a dozen rallies across the state were peace. Police used pepper balls and smoke on one group in Denver.

Denver police arrested several demonstrators during a march against ICE raids in downtown Denver Tuesday night.

Denver police arrested 17 protesters on suspicion of graffiti, interference with law enforcement, obstructing streets, throwing objects and assault, according to the police department.

A group marched to the ICE facility in Aurora on Monday in solidarity with protestors in Los Angeles. Another rally is expected to happen today at the state capitol in Denver.

At one point, protesters in the area of Broadway and Exposition Avenue were ordered to leave by the Denver Police Department.
