The Red Sox reinstated lefty Chris Murphy to the active roster after Tommy John surgery and placed righty Luis Guerrero on the injured list Saturday with an elbow strain.

The Boston Red Sox announced that Justin Slaten was put on the 60-day injured list, Luis Guerrero to the 15-day injured list, and Chris Murphy was reinstated to the active roster.

With his recovery period now complete, Murphy will get another crack at the bigs and give the Sox another left-handed relief option. Aroldis Chapman has taken over closing duties, and the Sox have been using Justin Wilson and Brennan Bernardino in lefty depth roles.
