India launched missiles into areas controlled by Pakistan on Wednesday morning, resulting in the deaths of at least eight people, including a child, an action that the leader of Pakistan has described as an act of war.

India fired missiles across the border into Pakistani-controlled territory in at least three locations early Wednesday, killing at a child and wounding two other people, Pakistani security officials said.

While the case is fairly routine, it comes as India indicates it is preparing to strike Pakistan in response to last week’s deadly terrorist attack.
