Divers return to the Potomac River as part of the recovery after the United States’ deadliest aviation disaster in almost a quarter century

Tragedy struck in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday night, as an American Airlines jet collided with an Army Black Hawk helicopter. That crash resulted in the largest aviation disaster the United States has seen since November 2001.

Crews have recovered 41 bodies from the wreckage of the American Airlines regional jet and Army Black Hawk helicopter sitting in the Potomac River. Now, they're waiting for additional equipment to pull pieces of fuselage from the river in the hopes of reaching those unaccounted for.
