The Yankees have subtracted from their rotation one day after being unable to add a starter at the trade deadline. New York released veteran righty Marcus Stroman on Friday, the team announced. It was part of a series of moves to get the club's deadline additions,

Stroman, who is in his 11th season in the majors, was cut ahead of the opener of a three-game series against the Miami Marlins.

The Yankees and Stroman agreed to a two-year, $37 million deal in January 2024. The Yankees announced that relievers David Bednar, Jake Bird, and Camilo Doval, and infielder/outfielder Jose Caballero — all acquired on Thursday before the deadline — were added to the active roster.
