City crews replaced 138 lead pipes leading to homes in three central Lincoln neighborhood and are expanding the program to the Near South, Everett, Irvingdale, and South Salt Creek neighborhoods.

This project is part of the City’s Lead Safe Lincoln initiative, launched in 2022 to proactively prevent community members’ exposure to lead, and is funded through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.

One goal is to reconfigure lanes on 48th to make travel safer for drivers and pedestrians, a common concern among locals.
