The Edmonton Oilers and Vancouver Canucks rematch on Thursday was tense after Saturday’s controversial ending and McDavid’s subsequent suspension.

Zach Hyman had two goals and an assist, Leon Draisaitl had a goal and two assists and the Edmonton Oilers beat the Vancouver Canucks 6-2.

They weren’t awful in a loss at Pittsburgh in their previous game on Thursday, but they had one of their worst stretches in ages during the first period — a six-to-eight-minute span that coach Kris Knoblauch called “garbage” on Friday. Plus, they were playing a terrible Chicago team, which had played the night before in Detroit.
