Moritz Seider led the way in ice time with 24:21. The next highest time on ice was Erik Gustafsson, who played 19:49. A few forwards reached the 18-minute threshold, Patrick Kane and Alex DeBrincat. Lucas Raymond and Dylan Larkin both played just under 18 minutes.

The Red Wings are 8-4-0 since McLellan took over. The power play, despite going 1 for 9 over the weekend, has been potent, converting at nearly 42 percent during this stretch (18 for 43). The penalty killing continues to struggle (16 for 25, 64 percent).

Compher’s shot at 9:55 of the second period, and Michael Rasmussen scored an empty-netter in the final minute to clinch Detroit’s victory.

The Red Wings (23-21-5, 51 points) have won back-to-back games, both with Talbot in net. Talbot is 7-1-0 in his past eight starts. The one loss was a 5-1 setback at Tampa Bay Jan. 18 when he was pulled after two periods.
