Senate Bill 37 would limit the role and size of faculty senates and bar institutional racism, identity politics in core curriculum.

The Texas House voted this week to use taxpayer money to send students to private schools. Republican leaders in the Senate plan to recommend that the Senate accept the House's changes to the bill, speeding up the process to get the bill to the governor's desk.

The education bill is now heading to the Senate after the House gave approval on Thursday. If a deal is reached, though, the bill will become public, and lawmakers will debate it in each chamber before a vote.
