Starbucks fans are not hot about this cold drink change. Cold coffee orders will no longer come in a plastic cup in some Starbucks locations — rather, they’ll be served in fiber-based compostable cold cups.

Starbucks is once again causing cup controversy, not with their annual Christmas cups, but rather the new compostable cups now being used for iced drinks.

Starbucks has rolled out opaque cups for its drinks in some states, marking a shift in presentation for a brand that's become known for designed-for-Instagram drinks. A representative for the chain told BI that a "small number of stores" in the US transitioned to using "commercially compostable hot and cold cups because of local government requirements.

Many Starbucks customers are not happy about the coffee chain's new cup design. Starbucks switched from plastic to opaque compostable cups in 14 states, including Arizona. Some customers have complained about not being able to show off their pretty drinks on social media,
