The man accused of dismembering his pregnant sister in Lakeville was indicted Friday on first-degree murder charges in relation to the May 2024 death.

A 23-year-old man charged last spring in the death of his pregnant sister and her unborn child has now being indicted by a Dakota County grand jury on charges of premeditated first-degree murder and intentional second-degree murder, the Dakota County Attorney’s Office announced Thursday.

The Pima County Attorney’s Office confirms that Jack Upchurch, Elmer Smith, and Wendy Scott have been indicted on charges of first-degree murder, armed robbery, aggravated robbery, kidnapping, two counts of theft of means of transportation, two counts of burglary in the third degree, and two counts of tampering with evidence.
