As January draws to an end, Texas can look forward to daylight saving time as an indication of spring. Here's why President Trump may end it.

"The Republican Party will use its best efforts to eliminate Daylight Saving Time, which has a small but strong constituency, but shouldn’t!" Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social in 2024. "Daylight Saving Time is inconvenient, and very costly to our Nation."

This spring, most of the United States will "spring forward," losing an hour of sleep to gain an hour of daylight.

The North Dakota House of Representatives passed a bill Tuesday that would eliminate daylight saving time and keep the state on standard time throughout the year. The House voted 55-37 to pass the

House Bill 1259 would eliminate daylight saving time in North Dakota, instead having the state observe standard time year-round.

North Dakota lawmakers passed a bill ending Daylight Saving Time and forcing permanent standard time. The House voted 55 to 37 in favor of sending House Bill 1259 to the Senate. It does not change any time zone lines.
