An amber weather warning for snow has been issued across areas of Somerset as temperatures remain low. The Met Office alert, which covers areas including Taunton, Chard, Minehead, Dulverton and Wiveliscombe, will be in force until 21:00 GMT on Wednesday.

The scammers offer to "register" children for the AMBER Alert system, ask for confidential information and try to meet at victims' homes, officials said.

A rare amber warning for snow has been issued across Devon and Cornwall with immediate effect. Snow has fallen across large parts of the region, including Dartmoor, forcing some schools to close and road restrictions on the A38 motorway. A yellow weather warning was already in place for the South West but the Met Office has since upgraded this.
