This fall after the foliage season ends, the state's iconic Franconia Notch State Park tramway will be retired and work will begin on a third one.

The Wyler Aerial Tramway, now managed by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, was built in 1959 and operated as a lift for visitors from 1960 to 1989, when high insurance costs led to its closure.
