Ocean State Job Lot has acquired more than a dozen former Big Lots stores around the country, including one in Massachusetts, the company announced Wednesday. The retail chain said it is finalizing a deal to take over 15 Big Lots locations in New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, New York, Massachusetts, Maine and Vermont.

Ocean State Job Lot announced it is adding 15 locations in eight states. The business plans to open up to 22 new stores this year, including 15 former Big Lots locations. New stores will be opening in New Jersey, Delaware, Pennsylvania, Maryland, New York, Massachusetts, Vermont and Maine.

With the acquisitions across eight states, the Rhode Island-based discount chain will move into Maryland and Delaware for the first time, the retailer said.
