There’s more than one storm to keep an eye on this week. On Saturday, July 25, the National Weather Service warned about Hurricane Fausto strengthening into a Category 2 story, but now, there’s another storm on the way.

The National Hurricane Center is watching three tropical waves in the Atlantic basin, as of 8 a.m. July 21: A far eastern Atlantic tropical wave is near the Cabo Verde Islands with axis along 26W from 08N to 20N moving westward near 11 mph.

According to the National Hurricane Center's 8 p.m. Tuesday advisory, Tropical Storm Bertha is in the Gulf of Mexico, 120 miles west-southwest of Panama City, Florida and 105 miles south-southeast of Mobile, Alabama. It is moving to the west at 6 mph, with maximum sustained winds of 60 mph.

The National Hurricane Center has increased the chances of a tropical disturbance, known as Invest 91-L, developing to 50 percent over the next 7 days. The disturbance is in the eastern Gulf of Mexico and the chances of a formation are heightened by the warm Gulf waters.

A tropical storm warning is in place along the Panhandle. Other predicted impacts from Bertha in Florida include rain, gusty winds and dangerous surf.

July 19 (Reuters) - An area of low pressure over the Gulf of Mexico and near Florida continues to be better defined and has an 80% chance of becoming a cyclone in the next 48 hours, the U.S. National Hurricane Center said in an advisory on Sunday.

Tropical Storm Bertha made its second landfall Thursday afternoon, July 23, near the Texas-Louisiana border, and quickly weakened. The National Hurricane Center issued its last advisory on Bertha at 11 p.m. July 23, although the former tropical storm was bringing some heavy rain to some portions of South Texas July 24, according to AccuWeather.
