Portions of Florida are bracing for unusually frigid temperatures as an extreme cold watch goes into effect over the weekend, the National Weather Service (NWS) says.

For the second year in a row – and the second time this year – snowflakes fell in Florida.

“An intense surge of arctic air behind the coastal storm will send below freezing temperatures down toward South Florida by Sunday morning.”
