The U.S. Agency for International Development will send some teams to Thailand to help with recovery efforts following an earthquake that hit southeast Asia, a source familiar with the matter said on Friday.
More than 150 people have died after a powerful 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck Myanmar and nearby Thailand on Friday, March 28.
The United States Geological Survey (USGS) confirmed the quake, which struck at approximately 3:26 a.m. The epicenter was located about 4 kilometers west-northwest of Pembroke, in Bryan County. The USGS reported the earthquake's depth as 4.6 kilometers. There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
Hundreds are also injured in Myanmar, according to an army general, as the 7.7 magnitude quake is felt in neighbouring countries.

The earthquake shook buildings in neighboring Thailand and China, and rattled bridges and homes as far away as Vietnam. At least 23 people have died, and the death toll is expected to rise, especially in Myanmar, where the injured are arriving at hospitals in the country’s second-largest city, Mandalay.
