A 70-year-old man has died after a light aeroplane crash-landed at an airfield near Sherburn in Elmet. Emergency services were called to Sherburn Aero Club just before 13:00 GMT, North Yorkshire Police said. The small plane crashed on the runway and the pilot, who was from the Leeds area, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A small plane crash near the airport in Lillooet, B.C., has claimed the life of a pilot, according to police. In a statement, Lillooet RCMP said officers were notified of the crash at 5:17 p.m. PT on Wednesday. Emergency crews arrived to find the pilot — the sole occupant of the aircraft — unconscious and suffering from a life-threatening injury.
