Jalen Hurts threw for 203 yards and three touchdowns, and the Eagles' Moro Ojomo stuffed the Commanders' attempt at a tying 2-point conversion with 1:01 remaining as Philadelphia squeaked past Washington 24-22.

PHILADELPHIA — The Eagles won their season opener with a 24-22 victory over the Washington Commanders Sunday. Dallas Goedert was Jalen Hurts’ big-play threat with two receiving touchdowns. Hurts finished 14-for-25 for 203 yards and three TDs.

The Eagles made a goal-line stand in the fourth quarter to win game. On a two-point attempt, Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels threw a shovel pass to Commanders tight end John Bates, but Bates had nowhere to run. Eagles defensive tackle Moro Ojomo ran through Washington’s offensive line to bring Bates down into the backfield.

It took quite a while for the offenses to get going in Philadelphia on Sunday, but a flurry of points made for an exciting finish between the Eagles and Commanders.

Philadelphia Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert made an incredible play when he hauled in Jalen Hurts’s pass and made multiple defenders miss on his way to a 43-yard touchdown. But right before the snap, multiple players on the left side of the Eagles’ formation appeared to move. The officials didn’t call a penalty, and Goedert’s score stood.
