The Vancouver Canucks have placed star centre Elias Pettersson on the injured-reserve list. The club announced the move on Friday, saying it is retroactive to Dec. 23 and that goalie Arturs Silovs has been called up on an emergency basis.

Despite Vancouver Canucks players Elias Pettersson and J.T. Miller denying any issues between them, media speculation and trade rumors continue to build.

The Vancouver Canucks are having a respectable season, sitting in fourth place in the Pacific Division with a 18-12-8 record. However, there’s been reported drama between two of their stars, JT Miller and Elias Pettersson.

The Vancouver Canucks are currently missing their top two defencemen, Quinn Hughes and Filip Hronek. Since the beginning of the season, the Canucks defensive depth has been a concern with a lack of true top four defencemen and puck movers on the backend.
