India will be the global production hub for Suzuki Motor's electric cars and it plans to export the vehicles back to Japan as well as other markets, such as Europe, despite a slowdown in sales of EVs,

NEW DELHI -- Suzuki Motor, the parent of India's biggest automaker, is out to take the lead in electric-vehicle market share here, President Toshihiro Suzuki said Thursday. The Japanese company plans to expand production capacity to turn India into a hub for exports to Europe, Japan, Africa, Southeast Asia and elsewhere, according to the president.

Suzuki Motor Corporation plans to expand into the small electric car market in India after launching its first EV, the SUV e VITARA. The company views India as a hub for global electric vehicle production.

Suzuki Motor Corp. said that India will be the key export hub for its electric vehicles, hybrids, and small cars.

The company is currently focused on strengthening its position in the SUV segment as part of its goal to achieve a 50 per cent market share in the Indian automobile market
