Robby Ashford has appeared in two games so far this season serving primarily as the backup to LaNorris Sellers. Now with Sellers going down to injury, Ashford will be asked to step up against Akron.

The SEC has a new policy enforcing mandatory “availability reports” before every conference game. But because South Carolina is playing a non-conference foe, it did not need to disclosure any injury information and, thus, does not have to divulge Sellers’ true status.

Sellers was sacked for a loss of four yards by LSU player Bradyn Swinson on the second-to-last play of the half. Sellers seemed to be favoring his right foot afterward. He came off the field, and backup Robby Ashford checked in.
