If you're a student or teacher — or were one in the past few decades — you may soon be getting a head's up that your personal information was accessed as part of the widespread PowerSchool cyber breach that recently hit Canadian school boards.

In wake of PowerSchool data breach impacting several school districts in Southern Idaho, schools say they are vigilant about protecting student information.

Data belonging to hundreds of thousands of Newfoundland and Labrador students was breached in a cyberattack targeting an information system used by schools across the country.

In a filing with the Office of the Maine Attorney General this week, PowerSchool reported approximately 33,488 Maine residents were affected by the breach. The number of Mainers affected will likely go up.
