The big Nintendo news everyone was waiting for on Wednesday is finally here: You can play 20-year-old games on Switch 2. Plus, there's also a dedicated Nintendo GameCube controller updated with the "C" button for GameChat also announced today.
GameCube Nintendo Classics are exclusive to Switch 2, and you'll need a subscription to buy the wireless GameCube controller.
Mario Kart World wasn’t the only racing game announced for Switch 2 during today. Near the end of the lengthy Direct, Nintendo also revealed Kirby Air Riders. The sequel to the 2003 GameCube cult classic won’t be a launch title for the Switch 2, but it is still set to release before the end of the year.
During today’s Direct presentation, Nintendo spent a lot of time talking about the Switch 2’s new built-in GameChat functionality that will give players a way to share their screens during group video calls. Nintendo has finally shared many of the key specs about the Nintendo Switch 2 as part of its Switch 2-focused Direct. The system launches on June 5th. The device has a 7.9-inch screen, but it’s still 13.99mm thick, like the first Switch. The LCD screen has a 1080p resolution, and supports HDR and up to a 120fps refresh rate.
