Two-time Gold Glove shortstop Nick Ahmed announced his retirement Thursday on social media. “I got to live out my childhood dream and play for a very long time!” Ahmed wrote. “After 15 professional seasons and over a decade in the big leagues I am officially hanging up my spikes and retiring from playing.

Ahmed also played for the San Franc,isco Giants, San Diego Padres and Texas Rangers during the final two years of his major-league tenure. He finishes his career a .233 hitter with 72 home runs, 339 RBIs, a .656 OPS and 11.2 WAR ( according to Baseball Reference) across 964 games played.
