"Longlegs" filmmaker Osgood Perkins adapted Stephen King's story "The Monkey," starring Theo James as twin brothers haunted by a cursed wind-up toy.

The Monkey director Osgood Perkins has commented on the film's singular views about death. Perkins' latest opened on Friday, but those who were lucky enough to catch a preview know that it depicts death as the end of the journey under a frame of absolute mayhem and satire.

Despite having powerful producers James Wan and Peter Safran aboard the Stephen King adaptation, no major studio wanted Perkins' take on the project before indie outfit Neon boarded: "I had to take it and run.
