Downtown hotel concerns cited as factor in COGIC decision to move convention out of Memphis after 2025
Kevin Kane, president of Memphis Tourism, acknowledged the challenges posed by the city's limited hotel capacity. “We didn't necessarily want to leave Memphis, but we do know transition many times happens,” said Dr. Anthony Coleman, Marion Sunset COGIC pastor. From singing and dancing to a word of prayer, over 30,000 COGIC attendees, or Saints, made their way to the Bluff City for the Holy Convocation in 2024.
COGIC convention leaving Memphis after 2025
The Church of God in Christ’s annual Holy Convocation is leaving Memphis again. The 2025 convention will be held in Memphis, but the event will move to St. Louis for 2026 through 2028. The convention took an 11-year hiatus away from Memphis but returned in 2022.
