World No. 1 Magnus Carlsen says he will play at the World Blitz Championship after initially quitting the chess tournament due to a dress code dispute with organizers.

International Chess Federation President Arkady Dvorkovich said in a statement Sunday that he'd let World Blitz Championship tournament officials consider allowing “appropriate jeans” with a jacket, and other “elegant minor deviations” from the dress code.

The player’s shock withdrawal prompted the International Chess Federation to relax a dress code that penalized him for wearing jeans to a New York tournament.
