The Kansas City metro is still digging itself out from a nearly-record 11 inches of snow that got dumped by a blizzard over the weekend. Roads remain icy and treacherous, however, and much of the city remains shut down.

Sunday is a First Alert Weather Alert Day for a major winter storm pushing through our area that will result in problematic road conditions and heavy snow into the start of the week. Officials have warned that travel may be "impossible" Sunday and into the start of the work week.

Kansas City, Mo., received nearly a foot of snow over in a single day, forcing road and air traffic to come to a halt. NBC News' Maggie Vespa reports why officials are saying it will take a few days to clean out the snow.
