The U.S. Department of Transportation has penalized JetBlue airlines $2 million for operating routes with unrealistic schedules, resulting in at least 145 “chronically delayed flights” in 2022 and 2023.

JetBlue is fined $2 million by the DOT for consistent flight delays and unrealistic scheduling, with the airline responsible for over 70% of 395 total delays and cancellations.

Under the penalty, JetBlue must pay $1 million to the U.S. Treasury and use the remaining $1 million to compensate impacted passengers, the DOT says. Customers will receive at least $75 if they experience any future JetBlue delays of three hours or more within the next year.
