Veteran catcher Tomás Nido was designated for assignment by the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday. The move was the expected corresponding transaction for the return of catcher Jake Rogers, who was reinstated from the injured list and will start Tuesday’s game in St. Louis.

The Detroit Tigers activated catcher Jake Rogers from the 10-day injured list and designated catcher Tomás Nido for assignment ahead of Tuesday night’s game against the St. Louis Cardinals. The 30-year-old Rogers has missed the last 38 games since being placed on the injured list with a strained left oblique on April 8.
